Hi, I’m Vener and I’m  43! This will be my first to do the blogging thing and I am sure I will need the expertise of my millennial kids…imagine their reaction if their nanay will do a blog. This will be tough but fun!

I will be sharing my insights on the importance and effect of IT in my life. I’m not at expert on IT nor I have a full blast on it, I have limited knowledge on how it works and I admit I am one of those who don’t give attention in learning it until…today! Nevertheless   no matter how limited my knowledge are,      I still appreciate the impact of IT in my life. At work, communications within and outside the agencies are through emails, we don’t need to waste our time to go from one office to the other just to confirm reports, all we need is a strong and stable connection to get things done. We don’t have to spend our time and money for official travel just to claim some documents; circulars and memorandum from different national agencies are sent through email.  We are starting to do all transactions in the office online, in just a click, we can view information that are needed by our client. Indeed, Information Technology makes the life of every public service provider easier and gives them ample time for more productive online undertakings???? Peace!

Everything is possible with IT, researches can be done through mobile phones and it can be done anywhere and anytime of the day, imagine how convenient for a working and studying mom like me to have just a phone, rather than carrying a number of books with me. I have two children, a 21 year old “soltero” and  a 11 year old “dalaginding”  and I have to check on them every time and thanks to facebook, messenger and all the likes for making it easy for me in tracing their whereabouts. Even at home and about to sleep and remember something important, I don’t need to go out of the room, I just need to send a message to my housemates for things to be done. IT is part and parcel of us and that’s a FACT!

Thank you for bearing with my FIRST and I hope I will be doing better with my next blog!

Freedom with Commitment and Responsibility

It is a fact that Social Media is everybody’s business or everybody’s business is Social Media. Social Media transgress in all aspect of our life and in fact it is influential up to the point of shaping one’s nation. If we try to figure it out we can see the big difference of our life before the onset of social media than our life in the midst of technology.

Social media is a platform for so many views, opinions, ideas, ideology and the likes and it is up to us on how we handle it, and make it worthwhile for our lives.  It is a platform for all the social strata of society and I believe that those with economic and political power, rules the platform.  But despite this personal view, I pray that one day; Social media will be a platform for freedom and truth with commitment and responsibility to the Filipino people…Long live the Filipino Masses!

The Culprit

Hi every one, welcome again to my blog! Today, we will be discussing about one of the most relevant issues in society, Software Piracy!  Let us scrutinize a little bit and let me share my opinion and insights regarding this dilemma.

Software is the programs and other operating information used by a computer. It may be system software, operating software or application software.  Software applications transgress in every aspect of human lives thus becoming a need than a want.  Although it becomes a necessity, with its high costs it is far beyond the reach of an ordinary organization or individual. The irony here is, one can never have the chance to use genuine software because pirated ones are the most available in the doorstep of every Filipino! Can you blame Juan de la Cruz from using it?

Software piracy – is the illegal copying, distribution, or use of software. It is such a profitable business that it has caught the attention of organized crime groups in a number of countries. According to the Business Software Alliance (BSA), about 36% of all software in current use is stolen. https://whatis.techtarget.com.ph

In my opinion, software piracy is not just an issue of ‘I patronizing pirated one’, this has become a societal issue that needs a societal solution. Software piracy is no different from the issue of poverty, unemployment, crimes in the Philippines. Majority of Filipinos are still below poverty line, how can we expect that Juan de la Cruz will spend thousands of pesos to buy/use genuine software first when he can barely buy food for his family? My point is, it is not a question of the rightful thing to do, everybody wants to be righteous, to be good citizen, but the question is, do I have the resources and capacity to do so? What is definite is, we go for what is available and affordable for all of us, we go for something that fits our budget. Why spend more, when I can spend less?

As mentioned earlier, the perennial problem of software piracy should be addressed comprehensively. First, the government should formulate programs relative to software availability. Technological innovation becomes costly in the hands of capitalist, the government shall allot budget and shall own or at least control a software company that will be accessible to everyone, second, provide a scientific education; and lastly uplift the living condition of Filipinos to be able to patronize/buy a genuine product. If we can do this, we have all the reasons in this world to run against the culprit of piracy.

This thing is called “Knowledge Management”

We often heard of the many kinds of Management and the many disciplines they are into. We are familiar with the management of people and the management of organization but we never thought of Knowledge Management or we are just not aware that the thing is called “Knowledge Management.”

Knowledge Management is the process of creating, sharing, using and managing the knowledge and information of an organization. It refers to a multidisciplinary approach to achieving organizational objectives by making the best use of knowledge.

Will my organization benefit from Knowledge Management?  No doubt, it will! The main thrust of the Local Government Unit is to offer the best service to its constituent by implementing programs and projects that will uplift the lives of every Passinhon. The Local Government is composed of many departments that has different and unique functions, nevertheless these departments are interrelated and has to work for one vision and mission! In order for them to strategically perform, they need to gather data from the different department, analyse, process and deliver results. The treasury department needs data from the budget and accounting office and vice versa, in the same way the rest of the departments shares data with one another for one purpose. Knowledge Management is not just sharing data, but as the word connotes, it is a management, a responsible gathering and sharing of data.

The biggest barriers in the implementation of Knowledge Management are of course the insufficient knowledge on what and how Knowledge Management is all about! It is a fact that LGU’s are politics driven and our work may oftentimes influenced by so much of it. Another is we forget that we belong to the same organization with one purpose, ours is competition!

“Knowledge is power but knowledge sharing is empowerment.” Knowledge is power, but it will be more powerful if imparted and shared! What is the use of knowledge, if it is limited to individual or a certain group of people? Empowering people is giving them the opportunity to realize their full potentials! Knowledge alone will not make the organization successful but rather, empower your people and they will work harder for the organization. Knowledge sharing will make the world go round and round and round…Knowledge sharing will ultimately hit our target!

Today, we can have all we want right in front of our doorsteps anytime. . In just one click, magic! Online shopping has become a business, everybody’s business! It has now become a centre of investment for all ages. Online shopping has become extensive to us Filipinos.

May “net kaw”

Food, shelter and clothing are the basic necessity of men but look around us…something has changed, Internet has become men’s need! We just can’t deny the fact that wherever we go and people in all walks of life are engrossed in the internet and uses wireless technologies in most of their endeavour. If there’s one thing that we need regardless of our social status is an access to the internet. From the nursery rhymes of a kid, to the fashion statement of a teenager, to the research of high school and college students up to the organizational needs of our mom and dad…internet is always on the go! It is an ease to our everyday lives!

Internet brings us to all parts of the world, it exposes us to the different culture and we learned different things in just one click. We actually can travel in just sitting down and in just a minute we can transfer from one place to the other. I remembered when I was in grade school; I was scolded by my mother because I was not able to follow the procedure in mailing a letter for my father. Nowadays, distance and homesickness becomes less an issue, with the use of technologies and the internet, we can see and feel our loved ones every time we want to. Indeed, internet in way or the other preserved Filipino values of “love of family”.

I’m on my early forties and I was a witness to office procedures without the internet and “whoe” it was so time consuming, imagine one transaction will last for 20 minutes?! But now…in a minute or two, all is set and done. Internet is no doubt very useful in organizations especially those with national affiliations, updates and reports are done in the web, corrections are easy, we can save time, money and resources at the same time we can give the best service to our clientele which by the way is our main goal!   Thru the internet we can showcase our best practices, we can show the world what is best in us, all it takes is to maximize the use of the internet and wireless technologies to give the public what is best and due for them!

Nowadays we don’t really ask first on “nami food or place nila” but rather “ may WIFI, may net”. This is how Internet touches our lives…

My Boss is visionary!

What makes an organization successful than the other? Or better yet, who are taking the lead   in the line of business and public management? We often hear nowadays the line “bringing to the next level” or “bringing it to its greater heights”.

The success of an organization can always be associated in its capacity to cope up with the demand and challenge of time and the ability to bring the organization in the forefront! But bringing something on top is no joke; it needs enormous planning, clever strategies, hard work; and a leader committed to embrace developments, new insights and a leader of vision! Organizations employ strategic plan to ensure that it is on the right tract of attaining its vision and mission. Strategic Plan should always be contemporary and reflective of the demand of society. As time goes by, things have change, the demand tripled, we are now in the computer world and we need technology to answer the demand of the situation. An organization should have an Information System Strategic Plan that will cater to the needs of the organization in the performance of their duties and function and most especially to deliver effective, efficient and quality service to the Filipino people. So how do we convince management about it? If our boss is a man of vision of bringing the organization to the next level, he will be more willing to adhere to the ISSP. It may be costly; there is no doubt about it, but try to think about it, especially in government, the public is the most important visitor in our offices, why can’t we give them the service they deserve? Why don’t we give them the millions they deserve?  The reality is, money or budget is not the issue here; it’s a matter of priority!

I have this gut feeling that my place, my organization will have our ISSP in the near future because my boss is visionary…we will bring our city to its greater heights!!!

Artistry

Hi everyone as promised I’m back! Welcome to my BloG!

Today is Sunday, February 2 and at last its family and rest time. The whole week was quite busy with office work plus and all other staff, Saturday was school time and I missed my   daughter’s recognition program and mind you she’s on the top of her class with High Honors. Lately, I haven’t checked on her stuff, she likes to work on things on her own, mess up her room to invent and come up with things she called Art. So, I will be staying home with her and check on how she’s doing.  Come on.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
